Scottish microbrewery scoops gold award for best beer at FreeFrom Food Awards

March 29, 2017 Scottish microbrewery, Bellfield Brewery, was last night presented with the Gold award for its Bohemian Pilsner beer, while the brewery’s IPA won Bronze. Judges’ comments were, ‘Strong aroma, good distribution, nicely bitter and not too fizzy – good! Floral – light amber colour – very refreshing – good after taste.’ The beer is certified gluten-free and is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Gluten-free microbrewery launches drive to raise £500,000 to fund expansion

The UK’s first dedicated gluten-free micro brewery, has launched a funding drive to raise £500,000 to support its rapid expansion, following a successful first year of trading. Launched in March 2016, Scotland’s Bellfield Brewery has enjoyed a number of big contract wins as the free-from food and drink sector continues to expand with Mintel predicting the market to grow to £673m by 2020 (Mintel 2016). Now the brewery wants to raise additional capital – through a mix of equity, grants and loans – to fund its expansion.
